Usenet in 2020

Postby noshuffle » Thu Jul 09, 2020 12:48 pm

I used Newsbin+Usenet for a lot of years, but stopped in ~2015.
This was due in large part to the prevalence of the abm.* boards being spammed and garbage/bait files being uploaded.

I'm curious to know what the state of Usenet is these days; is it still alive, new posts going up, or is just retention of the better days on a good server?
I know I'm out of touch on this; hoping to catch up and see if it's worth revisiting.

Any and all feedback is appreciated.

It's still alive. It's group dependent though. Some groups are just as focused as ever, some groups are now NZB Only.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I'd say volume is as high as ever but access has changed in many cases.
