What anti-virus does not slow NB down?

Postby hererjeg » Mon Feb 08, 2010 4:05 pm

I understand virus scanners can slow NB down. I use F-Secure, and there is no way to make it ignore the traffic from usenet.

Any suggestion to a program that will ignore usenet traffic? And would it be very unsafe to do so?

Does you server support alternate TCP ports like 80 or 23? If so, change the server options to use these alternate ports and you scanner should ignore the data.

For example, I recommend to all giganews users who don't use SSL to use port 80.

I use SSL and port 443. Is that good or bad?

It means your virus scanner is probably not touching the data.
