Downloading Files list now empty - where'd they go?

Postby hollywood » Fri Oct 26, 2018 12:35 pm

Hi. The 'Downloading Files List', which was full of reference points, is now coming up empty.
Which .db3 file am I looking for that may restore these - one day I shut the program down, and on the next boot - nothing.
Possible corruption? Is there a backup I can look for somewhere in appdata?
thanks

The downloaded files are in "Downloaded.db3".

The download, wish and failed list are stored in "DownloadsV2.db3".

Keep in mind that if you move files on disk, they'll be removed from the files list when Newsbin restarts.

any idea if and how they would become corrupted, either by size or some other means, and if so, is there a backup stored anywhere in windows dirs?

Yes, while it's a DB any file can get corrupted if windows crashes or their a hard shutdown. It's too late now but if the contents of the DB3's are important to you, it's not a bad idea to back them up.

These DB3's really have no upper size limit. At some point Newsbin will slow as it tries to load larger and larger DB's. 6.81 is probably best at minimizing that load time. The contents of the DB3's will shrink in size as files download.

Would be a good idea to include failover functionality where Nbp creates a backup downloads.db3 upon launch, and would probably save a few accidents/crashes/fat fingering.

If it was as small as the NBI file then I agree. They can get really large. I've thought about it. The reason it's a DB is that it's so resistant to damage. You have to try pretty hard to damage the file.
