Obfuscation

Postby amittas » Sun Aug 11, 2019 9:11 pm

Sorry if I seem like I was born yesterday but ... I just found what the word meant with regards to newsgroups, literally, yesterday.

So I look at the latest headers from a newsgroup and I see the random letters/numbers for the header and letters/numbers for the poster. I know that NB will de-obfuscate the file when it is downloaded and assemble/rebuild, etc.

Is there a way to decode the obfuscation of the subject header or poster to see what I will be downloading (or from whom) or is the only way to see the file by downloading it?

If there is no way to 'decode' the subject header or poster, how does one know what to download or avoid and how does look for a particular poster?
