Sonarr Newsbin Search as an indexer?

I'm fairly new to the idea of Sonarr. Looking around at indexers and I'm just not happy with what I'm seeing. Is there a way or is it planned to allow Sonarr to use Newsbins search as an indexer?

I have a prototype that works with Sickbeard. I could probably make it work with Sonaar too. Dex and I have been discussing doing this. It makes sense. I need to get 6.60 out the door. I've been grinding away at the last couple issues so, it's soon to be in feature freeze meaning I can work on other things for a bit.

I'm hoping the next 6.60 beta is where I can start to lock things down and get ready for release. It's really head and shoulder better than 6.56 already.

You know you can also do search based watch lists in 6.60 too? I have a couple porn stars I'm watching for.... Basically you set Newsbin to periodically hit our database and pull results. Then you can optionally download the hits. If you want to manually download, you load the watch list as if it's a group. If you normally use search by clicking the dropdown and repeating searches. You can make Newsbin do all of these searches automatically so, the results are waiting for you and constantly updated.

That would be awesome.

FWIW, so far I cannot see the benefits of Sickbeard or Sonarr since NB uses Watch_Lists (unless someone can tell my something better :) ). I download certain groups that have postings for the content I want and use RE Strings in several Watch_Groups to catch TV Shows (some are specified with certain Season numbers), p0rn, Documentaries, Sports, certain Posters and m0v13s. Some Watch_Lists are set to automatically download hits and others wait for me to review hits and download if I want. The Watch_Lists & RE are both Genius and Flexible.....WOW!!! Just my two cents worth :D

Thanks

Sick and Sonarr track what you download and if it's posted again, repost or another posting group, it's not re-downloaded. That's actually a weakness in the watch lists.

That's OK with me....I can live with that weakness and some possible dups. Sometimes, the Dup Detector in NB kicks in, but that is OK too. I look at the Log and decide what if anything I need or want to do.

In my case, I have one system to manage, that is NB, and that is fine and works for me. Keeps things simple :D

Thanks for the feedback and info on Sick and Sonarr. I think I am right where I want to be with NB.

Thanks!

Hi Quade - touching base on this topic to see if you have a prototype now for Sonarr that uses Newsbin search as an indexer?

I would also be very interested in this.

Thanks for your consideration.

We do have a working prototype but only Quade and I are using it at the moment. We are in the process of finding some production server resources to move into a beta test. The intent is to make it available to anyone with an active Internet Search subscription as an added feature. Should be sometime in February barring any more distractions.. *cough* spam flood *cough*

Has this been added yet? I'm trying to make sonarr utilize newsbin pro's search feature.

Dex is in the middle of big changes with the web site. I think once he's done we can revisit this. I want it to be active again too.

Yeah, that's what I get for specifying a target date. I'm in the midst of a data center move, trying to minimize downtime. Hard deadline to be out of the current data center is the end of May so I'll be back on this task in June or sooner if the migration goes smoothly.

Any update on this integration - I'm happy to be a guinea pig for it! I have Sonarr and Radarr working perfectly with Newsbin pro but Newsbin indexer gets better hits than the others im currently using!

Cheers
Love-you-longtime Newsbin customer (since 2006) ;)

Our list has gotten long and this has been pushed down the list unfortunately. I'll bring it up with Quade today and see if we can re-prioritize.

Thanks for the nudge.

Where are you guys on this now? I've been waiting for this to be released since none of the other available indexers seem to work well.

Any chance this is still in the list of things to add?
I'd love to be able to use my $5/month outside of Newsbin!

We are in the middle of big changes to our indexer, probably a good time to revisit this request. Not sure it'll be full featured but should be able to handle basic stuff. We'll see.

Fantastic - thanks Dexter. If you need a tester, I'm right here!
