Beta 15: crashes sometimes when closing a group

Postby Wildfire » Thu Jun 02, 2011 5:03 am

In all it's previous versions, NewsBin Pro has never crashed once. However, I've had about five crashes since beta 15. As they are not consistently reproducable it's a bit though narrowing down a cause, but it looks like the crashes occur when closing a group. Just now I was browsing through alt.binaries.multimedia and when I was finished I pressed the close-button on the tab. Et voila: the program crashed.

I went into the system log and, as XML info, this is the information about the crash:

FYI: This is the 64-bit version of NewsBin Pro v6b15 (when I installed it, I did reset the workspace.xml), on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (obviously) with Service Pack 1. If any more data is needed, please let me know.

Unfortunately the best information, apart from any variables such as downloading to external drives, encryption software or anything the average user would consider non-standard, is a method to reproduce the problem. Once Quade can reproduce it, he can fix it. Are you running in single or multi tab mode?

I'm in single so I almost never bother closing group tabs, I'll try hammering that...

Thanks for the report. I wonder if it's still doing something from a header download and that's why it croaks? What header download mode are you using?

Options\Options\Switches. Is background update checked or unchecked? I mean, I know it's a bug, I'm just trying to figure out the situations that trigger it.

No automatic update, no background update. Multi-tab mode. And to answer DThor's questions, downloading to an internal drive, no encryption software. As I said, never before had this problem. It popped up in beta 15. To me, that suggests that some change in beta 15 causes it.

If it happens again, I'll post any additional info here.
