Internet search and watchlist issue

I use the internet search combined with watchlists to auto download each week. But at least twice recently this has failed.

I think the issue was on the internet search side, it looks like posts stopped updating for a day or two, then all the posts seemed to be added at once. I've manually search and not seen files returned from the search. Then I search the next day and there they are. Problem is the Post date seems to reflect when it was posted to usenet, not when it was added to the search engine. Hence there are post dates of yesterday even though the search found nothing yesterday.

That means the watchlist that scans every half hour uses the date of the last search to reduce the results, but that date too corresponds to the usenet post date. The posts eventually got added to the search engine, but because the post dates were in the past, the download never kicked off.

Just for reference, the issue seems to be happening now. The internet search only returns results from 10/11. but its 10/14. And my search usually returns 20 new posts every day. I've also confirmed on other index sites that posts have been made for the last 3 days, but the internet search in newsbin is not up to date. When the internet search eventually gets populated, then the posts for the last 3 days get skipped from my watchlist.

That sucks if their search is having issues.

For issues like that, you should contact their support directly.
I hope it's not really missing days; I use it sometimes as well.
And we pay a fee to use the search.

Hey guys, this has been resolved. The mechanism we use to feed the search database failed on October 12. I was out of town and didn't realize it until October 16. It took a day or so to catch up but as of today (10/18) it appears to be fully recovered. Sorry for the inconvenience, I have an automated alert set for things like this but I missed it while I was gone. If you are still seeing issues, please use the Newsbin Support Form to contact me. I personally read and respond to everything that comes through that. Be aware that gmail and outlook/hotmail have sometimes been bouncing responses from me because a spammer hijacked our mail server last year and I'm still trying to get off some blacklists. If you don't hear from me within a day or two, post to the forums and either Quade or I will see it. Or hop on to our IRC channel at irc.newsbin.com
