Delete All Posts from Poster questions

Postby GrouchoBarx » Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:33 pm

I hope these aren't dumb/newbie questions.

In some groups common nyms have been hijacked. My question is how does the Delete All Posts From Poster function differentiate between posters that look the same but are in fact different posters? Is it safe to Delete All Posts when it is obviously spam, or do I run the risk of deleting a "good" poster as well.

My other question, if I have a filter open and I Delete All Posts From Poster, does it only apply to the filtered posts or to the entire newsgroup.

Thanks for your help.

"Poster" is just a string. Newsbin is doing an exact match so if two posters use exactly the same "Poster" name then both will be deleted.

What I mean is that Newsbin has no way of knowing if someone is good or bad. When you click "Delete all posts by poster" it's grabbing the poster field for the selected posts (you can do more than one) and deletes all posts with matching "posters" from the database for the loaded groups.
