List Insert Failed: Downloading Headers

I downloaded the latest Beta and things were working fine. I then got the List Insert Failed error, so I backtracked to 6.73. I still get the same error.

If I Show All Posts, I get zero posts and the group is emptied out?!?

I looked through the forums and saw a similar issue with the solution being "Delete downloadsv2.db3". But when I try to delete the file in File Explorer, I get "The file is no longer located in G:/Newsbin/Datapath (which is my Newsbin HDD). I can see the file in Explorer, it's 1.37 Gb.

Help, please!

What server are you using? Astraweb just recently renumbered all their group meaning you'll have to either re-download headers or right click the group in Newsbin and select "Post Storage/Use Download Age" then set a short "Download Age" in the options.

I'm using GigaNews. When I try to reload headers (I've tried on a handful of groups) the headers are cleared and I get the List Insert Error on each group. Then each group where I tried to download headers has 0 entries after the attempt. It looks like I have a corrupted downloadsv2.db3 file? And as I said above, I am unable to delete the file. I suppose I could uninstall, format the HDD and reinstall Newsbin, but I hope to find a different solution...

I tried reloading the Grouplist from the Giganews server, but I get nothing.

When I click the add server icon, I get a message.

The file containing the groups list is missing.
CLick the "Download GroupsList From Server" button.

I am not downlaoding any groups?

I suppose I am at the format and reinstall point. Is there anyway to get a list of all the groups I am subscribed to? Or do I need to add them manually after the reinstall?

Final report:

The HDD in question has given up the ghost. It was a slow motion thing, but now the drive cannot be initialized or formatted.

Time to buy a new drive.

Yeah, software can't fix hardware. These days I tend to cycle my important drives out when they get a year or two old. I still use them but I keep less important data on them. I've never has a Samsung or Intel SSD fail either.
