Yeah, you have to find a server that can deliver 26 year old posts though.

Just wanted to make sure that the problem/inconsistency in NB behavior is not lost in all the excitement of finally figuring this out.

NB behaves differently on initial 'Show All' and after subsequent 'Hide Old <-> None' or search operations (maybe some others too).
On initial load it does not check the posts age against Storage Age but after the above operations it does.
That creates the impression of disappearing posts.

At the minimum the behavior should be consistent. I would vote for removing that check altogether - if posts haven't been purged yet they should be visible in 'Show All' mode.

That's a good point. Still the problem should solve itself next time you update the group. The posts older than "Storage Age" will be purged. I'm inclined to make "storage age" always apply, even when "Loading All" because the next update will purge them.

Please let them in until they are actually purged. This way it's more predictable and if you are trying to get something at the edge of Storage Age
the posts will not disappear between two searches 5 minutes apart.

On the other hand why do I bother - I'll just set Storage Age at the limit.
