Ubuntu 7.10 newsbin 5.40 codeweavers 'newest' is working

While it isn't officially supported, we have many users who successfully run NewsBin under Linux with a Windows emulator (Wine is the most popular). This forum exists for you Linux guys to share your experience getting NewsBin running on Linux as well as report any strangeness that we may or may not be able to fix. DThor is the resident expert.

There's a number of issues like the Select-All speed thing - actually thats probably the most objectionable artifact I've come across. Most are minor redraw issues. Keep in mind that NB is a windows program(which runs fine on it's native platform) so if you get problems like that, the issue is with wine, not Newsbin. The solution I use is to not do Select-All on Linux...:P

Even though NB isn't officially supported on Linux, Quade's been good about trying to hunt down things that actually break wine. This select thing has been there for a while and proved difficult to track down. In the end, it's a bug in the wine implementation.

I suspect they don't implement "SetRedraw" properly. That's a function I use to disable re-draw while I'm doing something intensive to the GUI.
