Newsbin Pro seems to loose its grip on its config files if it si configured to save Data on one drive and Downloads on another.

The system will run fine as long as it is not closed and restarted. If so it will loose all configuration options. And as a Beta will refuse to see it was once registered.

I do not think this has anything to do with how the drives are configured.

This symptom normally means that the Newsbnin registry entries are being removed by some software on your machine. The registry stores the registration information, and also the location of the last configuration file used.

If you find the configuration file (with the .nbi extension) then starting Newsbin by double-clicking it will bring back your configuration.

I've seen that before in cases where the registry's damaged too so, Windows loads the backup registry.

This being linux (and I assume wine) I am not sure how it emulates the registry.

It's just a text file(as I recall, XML). I've never seen wine sporadically munge it, myself. Anyway, I'd just rename your $HOME/.wine directory and reinstall - you could easily move spools and such over to the new install. The good news is that being wine, you're talking a 30 second install vs a few hours. :)
